Aidyn Fitzpatrick
I’ve written cover stories for Time magazine. That helps me know how to tell yours
For more than 30 years, Aidyn has been a communicator – in journalism, media relations, advertising and marketing.
At the age of 22, she was made PR manager of the Asian arm of iconic British designer Sir Terence Conran’s consulting empire. She parlayed that experience into a communications role at the Peninsula Group of luxury hotels, where she was in charge of groupwide copywriting and produced everything from guest magazines to corporate brochures.
In the following years, Aidyn became a copywriter at the Sydney office of global advertising agency Leo Burnett, and later the PR manager of the Hong Kong Tourism Board in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. She was then transferred to London as the board’s pan-European communications manager.
In 2003, Aidyn took up journalism, becoming the inaugural editor of Time magazine’s Global Adviser – a weekly travel and lifestyle section that ran in all international editions. She subsequently became a senior news editor of Time, and was eventually appointed the magazine’s Asia managing editor.
In 2019, she decided to set up Harrington King together with her partner Madeleine, using their skills in the service of a wide range of brands, including InvestHK, Cathay Pacific, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, the Macao Government Tourism Office, and many others.
Aidyn has a first in modern history from Christ Church, Oxford.
Madeleine “Madi” Fitzpatrick
"A superb essayist" – Larry Sanger, co-founder of Wikipedia
For more than 20 years, Madeleine has helped organisations sound sharper, clearer and more human – as a managing editor, copy editor and content strategist working across lifestyle, business and culture.
She began her career in international media at Time magazine and CNN, before moving into custom print publishing, including for Cathay Pacific, and digital launch projects, from a platform for Asia’s retail industry to an online sportsbook preparing to accept ether payments.
As an independent writer‑editor, she has produced sponsored content and corporate copy for global brands and professional services firms, often turning non‑native English into fluent, publication‑ready prose.
Madeleine has been a desk editor at the New York Times, a senior journalist on China Daily’s Culture desk, and the managing editor of the Asia Pacific Law Review.
As a freelance production editor, she now straddles South China Morning Post’s Specialist Publications and China desks, while contributing profiles of design luminaries, among other content, to Style magazine.
She co‑founded Harrington King with her partner Aidyn to bring their combined knowledge, newsroom expertise and brand experience to clients across Asia and beyond.
Madeleine has a degree in Russian and Spanish from the University of Cambridge, and a degree in psychology from the University of Hong Kong.
